I called Pastor Chuck Farina at the beginning of December 2019 and shared the word of knowledge, followed by a prophetic declaration over him and the church.

“You have been in a season of famine for about three years, but the Lord says the drought is over and you’re about to enter a season of growth and abundance.” New Hope Church had launched a church plant three years before and sent a large group of people with the pastor from their church to a city nearby. God met every bill at New Hope, but everything was surprisingly tight for three years. From the day I gave the prophetic word of blessing to Pastor Chuck, everything shifted. A large unexpected gift was given later the same day, after I declared the blessing. The next several days, people came to the church with large financial gifts. The Sunday service offering was also filled with large gifts to bless the church.

Pastor Chuck shared with me that when COVID hit, he expected that he would be financially challenged like other churches were experiencing. Instead of a lack, the abundance of blessings increased dramatically. By August 1, 2020, they had surpassed their total budget of 2019. They paid off the building debt of $427,000 and sowed one of their greatest gifts to that point in the history of the church into missions. As Pastor Chuck was sharing this testimony of the blessing, I was amazed. Never underestimate the power of declaring blessings over those we know when the Holy Spirit brings it as a whisper.

We see that Elijah told King Ahab it would not rain until he spoke. That may seem presumptuous to many, but it was the word of the Lord. The drought did not end until Elijah prayed for what he heard in the Spirit.

And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word” (1 Kings 17:1 NKJV).

The Lord told me to prophesy to Bill, who had just started a local Christian radio station, that a large, undisclosed financial gift was coming to him. I objected. “Lord, Bill just shared with me today that the station was struggling financially. This is not a prophetic word. It will happen anyway.” God countered, “If you don’t prophesy it, it will not happen.” So I prophesied it to Bill. I could tell by the desperate waving of his hand that he really hoped so, too. After returning from an extended international ministry trip, my voicemail included a message from Bill to return his call as soon as possible. I thought he may have had a problem with a member of our church whom he had recently hired at his radio station.

Bill told me that after that prophetic word, different people started handing him money: four hundred dollars, eight hundred dollars. As he was going through the mail at the station in the morning, he laid aside a letter that looked like a bill from a bank. At the end of the workday, Bill finally decided to look at what he owed. As he opened it, to his surprise and mine, his eyes beheld his name on a cashier’s check for ten thousand dollars with no reference to the giver. I learned that day that the prophetic is not disqualified to operate in situations where we have full knowledge. The word of the Lord is still the word of the Lord, but we must speak it to activate it. I was thinking about the station, God was thinking about Bill. Notice in the prophetic word, the Holy Spirit prophesied it was coming to him while I was thinking about the radio station. We can be thinking wrong while the Holy Spirit is speaking it right—right through us.

Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets (Amos 3:7 NKJV).

I was talking with my friend, Danny Gokey. As I was getting ready to leave, a prophetic word came to me. I saw him writing a song about America that was going to be greater than Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” That seemed impossible to my natural mind. I also saw him singing his new song to President Trump. A few days later, Danny was getting on a plane, flying to a concert. He took out a pencil and paper and wrote his song, “My America,” in twenty minutes. It was the first time he wrote an entire song by himself without any help. What I did not know was that he was doing a remake of Lee Greenwood’s song, “God Bless the U.S.A.,” during that same time.

I checked on YouTube and discovered that Danny’s “My America” is four times greater than Danny’s remake of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” Now the prophetic word about his song being greater than Lee Greenwood’s made sense to me for the first time as I am writing this book. There was also a short clip of Danny singing it to President Trump.

God loves to reveal things to His prophets, so when people are blessed, they know it was their God who was working with them and blessing them. Prophetic words activate supernatural giftings into our natural abilities. God loves to reveal the secret things so that people know that He is steps ahead of them, preparing things for them because they love Him and He loves them.

Secrets are precious to those who love and are loved. If everything that happened was never announced beforehand by God, we would be left to believe in coincidences instead of God’s active presence and power on earth. Everything must be established in the mouth of two or three witnesses. God speaks it to a prophet, then a prophet speaks it to the receiver. Others may or may not hear it, but the prophet and the receiver are the two needed witnesses to verify that it was God. He foretold it, and then He accomplished it. Over three hundred prophecies spoken over seven hundred years dealt with the coming Messiah, which Jesus Christ fulfilled. Astounding odds for anything, yet He still was resisted by many in His day, which has continued to this day. Jesus prophesied His own sacrifice, death, and resurrection three days later. Jesus spoke beyond the Cross.

Activation!

Activation: Use biblical characters such as Joseph, Esther, David, Moses, and Daniel. Prophesy their life experiences of loss, broken relationships, sacrifices, and the death to dreams and visions. Then prophesy the way God turned it into blessings. Prophesy their journey that applies to your journey. Prophesy the restoration they experienced in their lives over your life. Especially the parts you have not yet received from the Lord. These things were written for our example. Now do it over several of your friends.

God Blessed

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26 NKJV).

Then God blessed them, and God said to them… (Genesis 1:28 NKJV).

Until we recognize that God blessed mankind before He gave assignments to mankind, we will never fully recognize the significance of being blessed or the importance of declaring the blessing over someone. No one can enter his or her heavenly assignment correctly without the blessing of God spoken over them. When Father God blessed Adam and Eve, they heard it and received it. Then He spoke their purpose and assignment to tend to the Garden of Eden. The blessing centered on who they were to Father God. He spoke about His relationship with them and His pleasure in them. The assignment was based on the blessing Father God spoke over them. The blessing centered their relationship and identity in honor so He could walk and talk with them.

God openly confessed His pleasure in His Son, Jesus. We can look at the baptism of Jesus and see more clearly Father God’s heart’s desire to bless us as the foundation of His relationship with mankind.

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17 NKJV).

Father God blessed the first Adam and the last Adam—Jesus Christ—before they were given assignments. Father God utilized the same pattern for both “Adams” and all mankind. Blessings must be received before we start our assignments. They are not earned but rather received and desperately needed to function as a child of God. These blessings are more difficult to receive from a “sinner, saved by grace” identity and mindset. They are a natural part for an heir who has an inheritance, whose identity and mindset exist scripturally; “[seated] together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6 KJV).

We must think differently about ourselves to live differently. We were designed by Father God to make a difference in our lives. Living in the full revelation of His honor is a required foundation to agree with His conversations about our assigned purpose.

While writing this book on hearing God’s voice and prophecy, I saw for the first time in Genesis 1:28 how God blessed Adam and Eve before He spoke prophetically into their purpose and their assignments. As I look back over decades of prophetic ministry, I notice the pattern of how His Spirit would release a blessing in words or pictures before moving into a person’s destiny or gifts that accompany their destiny.

Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11 NKJV).

But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him… (Deuteronomy 3:28).

Examples of Prophetic Blessings

Let me give you several examples of blessings, but always speak the blessing: You are blessed by Father God. Find the best place that fits by the Spirit. Start with a prophetic picture like this:

  • “You are blessed by Father God. God is pouring oil over your heart. It is healing a wound and giving you fresh hope.”

  • “A cloud of glory over your head. You are blessed by Father God. I see you thinking with Heaven about your future. God’s love for you is so deep. You are about to move in the gift of faith that is going to shift everything in your life.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. Fresh rain from Heaven falling on your heart. The drought is broken. What you have been praying for is about to unfold in this season. The seeds you planted in faith will grow.”

  • “The hand of God resting on your heart. It is causing you to have peace that passes understanding. A miracle is about to meet your problem. You are blessed by Father God.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. The anointing on your life is like David. You been chosen by God from a young age. You have been overlooked, but God has chosen you. His hand is on your life. This is your season for your purpose to move to the next level.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. God is giving you the wisdom of Solomon. Because you have asked for wisdom, God will give you unusual insight into many issues. I want to encourage you to read through the book of Proverbs; it will establish a solid foundation.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. Like Ruth, you will overcome the bitterness in your life. God is opening key relationships that will shift your life to the next season. Keep doing what you can until God gives you what only He can.”

To those who do not know their Bible, I say:

  • “You are blessed by Father God. God is pouring honey into your heart; He is removing the bitterness the enemy has brought against you.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. As you raise your hands with thankfulness to God; He is giving you the victory in a broken place. He is making a way for you where there seems to be no way. An open door is waiting for you. Trust Him and watch what God does for you.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. You are getting ready to receive a miracle. You feel like you are at the end of your rope, but you are at the beginning of a miracle. Repeat, I trust God.”

  • “The love of God coming down on you like the warmth of sunshine on a winter day. You are about to receive an unexpected blessing. What was stolen from you in the past, God is about to return to you. Start thanking Him now. You are blessed.”

  • “You are blessed by Father God. You are stepping into the river of life, and it is refreshing you. The force of His river of life is taking you forward. You have been stuck, but that is being broken today. Keep saying, I am stepping into God’s river.”

I never realized until I was writing this book that I always start off with a blessing before I give information. If I did not start off with it, it came later. Saying a blessing first has been a pattern in my prophetic ministry. I think it may be greater to start prophetic ministry with the truth: You are blessed by Father God. Now that I have seen it in the Word of God and reflected in numerous ways in my prophetic ministry for decades, I will be more diligent to make sure I bless people the way God blessed Adam. The Spirit always leads in the truth of His Word, the Scriptures. The Scriptures reveal what Father God has done and how the Holy Spirit is doing it through us.

The Spirit of Truth in the Prophetic

One of the reasons we must be born again is to restore the Spirit of truth that dwells in Father God that He created in Adam and Eve. Adam had operated in the Spirit of truth that gave him the revelation to name all the animals that Father God created. The Spirit of truth gave Adam the ability to collaborate and interface with Father God for his assignments on earth. We need the Spirit of truth active in our spirit to guide us in our assignments on earth. When we prophesy, the Spirit of truth is activated in our spirit to speak spiritual truths.
